Haryana Police are thoroughly reviewing CCTV footage to investigate the theft at Olympic medalist Mary Kom's residence.
Faridabad (Haryana):
On Sunday, Haryana Police confirmed that a specialized crime branch team has arrived at renowned Indian boxer Mary Kom's residence to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the reported theft.
According to officials, they are actively collecting evidence from the location and examining CCTV footage to gather crucial information about the theft incident.
Surajkund Police Station SHO Prahlad Singh informed reporters, "The residence was unoccupied as the family had gone out when the theft was reported yesterday. We are meticulously collecting evidence and analyzing CCTV recordings. This is Olympic medalist Mary Kom's house. Currently, 5-7 teams from the Crime Branch are actively investigating the case."
The police representative added that the investigation is still ongoing, and additional details regarding the incident will be disclosed soon.
Previously, it was reported that a theft occurred at the Faridabad, Haryana home of the Olympic bronze medalist boxer Mary Kom on September 24.
On Saturday, the celebrated Indian boxer Mary Kom addressed the theft at her Faridabad residence, confirming that she had notified the police about the incident.
In her conversation with ANI regarding the theft, Ms. Kom stated, "I am currently away from home. I will have complete details when I return. CCTV recordings show thieves removing the television and other valuables. My neighbors informed me that this incident occurred on September 24 at my Faridabad residence. I have already filed a report with the police."
Mary Kom holds the distinction of being the first female boxer in the sport's history to claim six world championship titles. The five-time Asian champion also became India's first female boxer to secure a gold medal at the 2014 Asian Games.
Following her 2012 Olympic medal victory, Mary took some time off to care for her third child. Upon her return to the sport, she reaffirmed her dominance by winning the 2018 World Championships held in Delhi, where she defeated Ukraine's Hanna Okhota with a decisive 5-0 score to claim her sixth world title. The following year, she achieved her eighth world medal, establishing a record unmatched by any boxer, male or female.
