The family of renowned Assamese vocalist Zubeen Garg has submitted an online complaint to the Assam Criminal Investigation Department (CID) regarding the circumstances surrounding his tragic death in Singapore on September 19, according to sources.

The formal complaint was filed jointly by Mr. Garg's spouse Garima Saikia Garg, his sister-in-law Pamie Barthakur, and uncle Manoj Borthakur.

In their complaint, the family has specifically named Sidharth Sarma, the singer's manager, and Syamkanu Mahanta, the organizer of the Northeast festival in Singapore, alleging 'negligence' on their part. Sources indicate that the complaint also references all individuals who participated in the Singapore trip, including local Assamese residents who extended the yacht party invitation to Mr. Garg.

The family has requested a thorough investigation into the matter, sources revealed. Authorities have confirmed receipt of the complaint, and the CID is preparing to commence its investigation, highlighting the family's insistence on accountability and transparency in the process.

The 52-year-old musical artist had gone swimming in Singapore's waters last week when he was discovered deceased, floating face down. He had traveled to Singapore for the three-day North East India Festival scheduled to begin on September 20, which was subsequently canceled following his death.

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) examining the singer's death has issued summons to both the festival organizer and Mr. Garg's manager to participate in the investigation by October 6, sources informed NDTV. Additionally, summons were issued to approximately twelve other individuals from Assam who were accompanying Mr. Garg on the yacht.

"We have provided them until October 6. The summons were delivered through the Indian Embassy in Singapore. Lookout notices have already been issued against Sidhartha Sarma and Syamkanu Mahanta via Interpol to prevent them from escaping to any other country," stated the Assam Chief Minister.

Throughout Assam, numerous citizens are conducting protests, demanding immediate arrests and a transparent investigation into Mr. Garg's death. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has assured the state's residents that all responsible parties will face consequences.
