The tech giant's Bengaluru office showcased a vibrant celebration atmosphere as Google commemorated its 27th anniversary.
Google celebrated its 27th birthday on September 27, featuring a special Doodle on its homepage that nostalgically referenced the company's original logo. The festivities extended to Google's Bengaluru office, where employees gathered for a day of culinary delights, entertainment, and reflective moments about the company's remarkable journey.
Keerthana M, who works as a program manager at Google Cloud Bengaluru, shared her experience and photos from the celebration on LinkedIn, offering a glimpse into the festivities and her personal reflections on this significant milestone.
"We celebrated another year of Google's journey, officially marked on September 27th each year. This year, Google turned 27 years old - that's over 236,000 hours (and counting!) of shaping the way the world searches, connects, and innovates," she wrote in her post.
According to Keerthana's account, the Bengaluru office was filled with enthusiasm as staff members participated in the anniversary celebrations.
"At our Bengaluru office, the birthday vibes were unmatched - the cafe was lit up with incredible food, TGIT energy flowing all around, and of course, the cake (because what's a birthday without cake?). It truly felt like being part of something much larger than yourself," she added, conveying the strong sense of community and collective pride among employees and highlighting Google's distinctive workplace culture.
Beyond the celebratory aspects, Keerthana contemplated Google's profound impact on daily life. She posed a thought-provoking question: "What would the world look like without Google? No instant answers, no YouTube tutorials, no Maps guiding us, no Gmail threads holding our work together, no Docs where collaboration thrives. Hard to even imagine, right?"
Her observations emphasize how Google's services have become universally integrated into the ways billions of people search for information, connect with others, and collaborate on a daily basis.
In her concluding remarks, Keerthana celebrated Google's contributions and community spirit, writing, "Here's to Google - for being the search engine, the workplace, and the community that continues to inspire billions of people every single day. Now I'm curious - what's the one Google product you can't imagine your life without?"
While Google was officially incorporated on September 4, 1998, the company has adopted September 27 as its official birthday. This date can be traced back to one of its earliest Doodles, an "out of office" design created when founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin attended an event.
During that period, the two Stanford PhD students operated their emerging search engine from a garage located in Menlo Park. Their ambitious mission to "organize the world's information and make it universally accessible" has since revolutionized how billions of people interact with the internet.
The celebrations at the Bengaluru office, alongside the commemorative homepage Doodle, highlighted Google's remarkable 27-year evolution from modest beginnings to becoming an essential component of everyday digital existence.
