Major Administrative Reshuffle: Telangana Appoints B Shivadhar Reddy as New Police Chief and VC Sajjanar as Hyderabad Commissioner

The Telangana government has executed a comprehensive reorganization of its police leadership, appointing B Shivadhar Reddy as the new Director General of Police and VC Sajjanar as Hyderabad Police Commissioner. This extensive administrative reshuffle affects 23 IPS and 6 IAS officers across various key positions in the state's security apparatus.

The Telangana government orchestrated a significant reorganization of IPS officers on Saturday, appointing B Shivadhar Reddy as the new Director General of Police for Telangana, while VC Sajjanar assumes the role of Hyderabad Police Commissioner.

B Shivadhar Reddy, a 1994 batch officer who previously served as Director General of Police for the state's Intelligence Department, has been transferred to the position of Director General of Police (Coordination). He will simultaneously hold "full additional charge" as Director General of Police (Head of Police Force) for Telangana, replacing the outgoing DGP Jitender who is retiring. Notably, Mr. Reddy had the distinction of being Telangana's first Intelligence Chief when the state was formed in 2014.

VC Sajjanar, from the 1996 batch, replaces CV Anand as Hyderabad Police Commissioner. Sajjanar is recognized for his leadership of the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) and his previous tenure as Commissioner of Cyberabad Police during the controversial 2019 encounter where four accused in a veterinary doctor's rape and murder case were killed.

CV Anand, who previously served as Hyderabad Police Commissioner, has been elevated to Special Chief Secretary in the Government's Home Department.

This extensive administrative reorganization involves the transfer of 23 IPS and six IAS officers throughout the state.

Vijay Kumar, a 1997 batch officer, has been appointed as the new Additional Director General of Police for the Intelligence Department. Shikha Goel from the 1994 batch has been promoted to Director General of Vigilance & Enforcement, where she will lead important monitoring and enforcement initiatives.

Ravi Gupta, a 1990 batch officer, will serve as Executive Vice-Chairman & Director General of the Centre for Good Governance. Y Nagi Reddy, previously Director General of Telangana Disaster Response & Fire Services, has been transferred to become Managing Director of TGSRTC, taking over from Mr. Sajjanar.

Anil Kumar from the 1996 batch has been appointed as Additional Director General of Police (Operations) for Greyhounds and Octopus, taking command of the state's elite anti-Naxal and counter-terrorism units.
