India's National Investigation Agency (NIA), the country's premier anti-terror organization, had also been seeking his capture.
Chandigarh:
Punjab Police successfully extradited Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) terrorist Parminder Singh Pindi from Abu Dhabi to India on Saturday, according to Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav. The operation was accomplished through close collaboration with Central agencies.
DGP Yadav revealed that Pindi maintains close connections with foreign-based terrorists Harwinder Singh (alias Rinda) and Happy Passia. The suspect has been implicated in numerous serious crimes including petrol bomb attacks, violent assaults, and extortion activities throughout the Batala-Gurdaspur region.
Following a Red Corner Notice (RCN) issued at the request of Batala Police, a specialized four-member team headed by a senior police officer traveled to UAE on September 24. The team worked in coordination with the Ministry of External Affairs and UAE authorities to complete all necessary legal procedures before successfully returning with the accused to face justice in India.
"This successful extradition demonstrates Punjab Police's zero-tolerance approach toward terrorism and organized crime, as well as our advanced investigative capabilities and global reach," stated the DGP.
"We extend our gratitude to the Central agencies, the Ministry of External Affairs, and the Government of the United Arab Emirates for their invaluable cooperation in this joint effort to uphold justice and strengthen national security," DGP Yadav further commented.
Previously, wanted gangster Happy Passia, who allegedly orchestrated 16 terrorist attacks across Punjab, was arrested in April and placed in Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) custody in the United States.
India's National Investigation Agency had also been pursuing Passia, offering a reward of Rs 5 lakh for information leading to his capture due to his suspected involvement in grenade attacks targeting a Chandigarh residence and multiple police stations throughout Punjab.
Passia, a known associate of Pakistan-based gangster-turned-terrorist Harvinder Singh (alias Rinda), has participated in numerous terrorist activities in Punjab, working in collaboration with Pakistan's ISI, Rinda, and the banned terrorist organization Babbar Khalsa International. His arrest was carried out by joint teams from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
