UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has instructed officials to implement severe measures against individuals causing disturbances in the state.
Lucknow:
On Friday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath described Dussehra as a festival dedicated to defeating evil and terror, and called for strict punitive action against those seeking to create unrest within the state.
The Chief Minister expressed concern over recent incidents involving controversial processions and inflammatory slogans across multiple districts including Kanpur Nagar, Varanasi, Moradabad, Budaun, Maharajganj, Unnao, Sambhal, Agra, and Bareilly. He characterized these events as part of a coordinated conspiracy to disrupt peace in Uttar Pradesh, emphasizing that such activities would not be permitted.
He ordered immediate filing of FIRs against those participating in disruptive activities, insisting that both participants and orchestrators must be identified and their properties scrutinized.
"We must not spare any wrongdoer involved in these processions. Examine video footage, monitor social media platforms, and take action against every individual involved," Chief Minister Adityanath declared.
According to a government statement, Yogi Adityanath was conducting a late-night review of law enforcement measures on Friday with senior government officials, zonal additional director generals (ADGs), inspector generals (IGs), divisional commissioners, district magistrates (DMs), and district police chiefs, along with senior field officers.
The Chief Minister reaffirmed his zero-tolerance approach toward criminal elements and emphasized that ensuring citizen safety remains the government's highest priority.
Expressing satisfaction with the implementation of Mission Shakti 5.0, which commenced with Sharadiya Navratri, Mr. Adityanath issued directives to prevent disguised offenders from infiltrating events such as garba and dandiya celebrations.
He stressed the importance of swift action in cases involving crimes against women and effective prosecution to ensure perpetrators face consequences. He stated that accountability for incidents like molestation, chain snatching, or acid attacks would extend beyond police stations and outposts to include PRVs whose performance would also be evaluated.
Following Dussehra, zonal ADGs will conduct station-by-station assessments and submit comprehensive reports.
The Chief Minister expressed strong disapproval regarding rumors of drone surveillance and theft in districts like Siddharthnagar, Maharajganj, Basti, and Prayagraj.
He called for the apprehension of individuals propagating these rumors and ordered regular police patrols in affected areas. Additionally, he mandated strict monitoring to prevent the spread of misleading information across social media platforms.
CM Adityanath adopted an uncompromising position against efforts to provoke caste-based conflicts, insisting on strict adherence to government directives. He emphasized the need to eliminate attempts to foster hostility in the name of caste.
Mr. Adityanath urged Durga Puja committees to implement appropriate safety measures and ensure that Ravana Dahan ceremonies comply with established safety protocols.
Directing stern action against cow smuggling operations and unauthorized slaughterhouses, the Chief Minister instructed police officials to conduct unannounced inspections to verify that slaughterhouses operate according to regulatory standards.
Regarding the substantial crowds and international buyers attending the Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show in Greater Noida, the Chief Minister advised administration officials to remain vigilant.
He instructed them to prevent traffic congestion and enhance security arrangements during the busy weekend period.
According to the official statement, the district magistrate of Gautam Buddha Nagar reported that approximately 49,000 visitors attended the trade show on its second day.
