Police detained a 40-year-old man for allegedly strangling his minor daughter to death, authorities reported on Friday.

The deceased has been identified as Sonam (13), a seventh-grade student from Bichaula village.

On Friday around 4 pm, police received a report about a girl's body in school uniform discovered in bushes beneath a bridge in the Anupshahr police station jurisdiction.

Officers arrived at the location, initiated an investigation, and recovered the young girl's remains.

Investigations revealed that the girl had attended school on Thursday, and her father, Ajay Sharma, had collected her afterward.

During questioning, the father confessed that while driving his daughter home from school, he took her to his field, allegedly strangled her with a scarf, and disposed of her body in a canal.

Following his confession, authorities recovered her school bag from the field.

The interrogation uncovered that the girl had been taking money from their home over several days, causing disputes between her parents.

After allegedly killing his daughter, the man informed her school that she had gone to stay with relatives and would not attend classes for the next three to four days.
