Man Sentenced to Life Imprisonment for Raping 1-Year-Old Stepdaughter in UP: POCSO Act Case Resolved in 14 Days

A special court sentenced a man to life imprisonment on Friday and imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh for the rape of his one-year-old stepdaughter, completing the trial in just 14 days.

According to prosecution lawyer Prabhu Narayan Singh, Special Judge Ram Avtar Prasad found the man guilty under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

The case was initially reported on July 20 by the child's mother, who lives in a village under Shadiabad police jurisdiction.

She reported that her husband had sexually assaulted her daughter on July 18 while she was away from home transplanting rice. The assault resulted in critical injuries to the child, including bleeding from a private part.

Singh stated that the charge sheet was submitted on September 12, with the court beginning daily proceedings on September 15.

During the accelerated trial, five witnesses provided testimony. After examining all evidence and hearing arguments from both prosecution and defense teams, the court delivered the life sentence to the convicted stepfather.
