IAS officer Vishakha Yadav extended a warm welcome to Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to Arunachal Pradesh.
New Delhi:
On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Arunachal Pradesh, arriving in the Papum Pare district where he was received by Vishakha Yadav, a woman civil service officer.
The photographs of Officer Yadav greeting PM Modi quickly became viral across social media platforms, with many inquiring about her background and achievements.
Vishakha Yadav serves as an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer and currently holds the position of Deputy Commissioner in Papum Pare district of Arunachal Pradesh.
On social media, Ms. Yadav shared images of her meeting with the prime minister, expressing her pride in having the opportunity to welcome him to Papum Pare district.
Remarkably, Ms. Yadav abandoned her lucrative career earning several lakhs of rupees to pursue her preparation for the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) examination. Without attending any coaching classes, she achieved an impressive all-India rank of six in the civil services exam.
A Delhi resident, Ms. Yadav worked as an engineer prior to becoming an IAS officer. After completing her engineering degree at Delhi Technological University (DTU), she secured employment with Cisco in Bengaluru. However, her aspiration had always been to join the administrative services.
Following her decision to leave her high-paying position and prepare independently for the civil services examination, she faced initial setbacks in her first two attempts but succeeded on her third try.
Ms. Yadav obtained 1,046 marks out of 2,025 in the UPSC examination, ranking sixth nationwide, and finally realized her ambition.
Born in Delhi in 1994, she comes from a family where her father, Rajkumar Yadav, works as an assistant sub-inspector, while her mother is a homemaker.
