Indian-Origin Amita Chaudhury Becomes First Woman to Chair UN's Global Sustainable Insurance Board

Amita Chaudhury, an accomplished professional of Indian origin, has been appointed as the Chair of the Board of the United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI) Principles for Sustainable Insurance (PSI).

This appointment marks a significant milestone as she becomes the first woman of Indian descent to hold this prestigious global position.

Chaudhury is an alumna of the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore, and brings extensive experience to the role. Throughout her career, she has held various senior global positions, including at Unilever. Her contributions to sustainable development have been recognized with the Leading Women Award by the World Business Council for Sustainable Development.

The United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative, headquartered in Geneva, represents a vital global partnership between the UN and the financial sector.
