Police have detained two individuals following the tragic killing of a mentally challenged patient at a rehabilitation facility in Hyderabad. According to authorities, the incident occurred after a dispute over a trivial matter.

On Thursday, police reported that a 38-year-old man receiving treatment for mental health conditions was fatally assaulted at a private rehabilitation and de-addiction center in Hyderabad. The attack allegedly involved two fellow patients who used sticks and a nail-cutter as weapons.

The victim, originally from Andhra Pradesh, had been undergoing treatment at the facility for approximately eight months when the violent incident took place Wednesday afternoon.

Officials identified the alleged perpetrators as residents of Nalgonda district in Telangana and Barkas area in Hyderabad. Both had been admitted to the rehabilitation center about one month prior to the incident.

An officer from Miyapur Police Station revealed that the individuals involved had a history of frequent disagreements over minor issues. On the day of the incident, the two accused allegedly struck the victim on his forehead and face.

Following the assault, staff transported the injured man to a hospital where medical professionals declared him dead upon arrival.

Authorities have registered a murder case and taken the suspects into custody as the investigation continues.
