The family dispute over industrialist Sunjay Kapur's estimated Rs 30,000 crore estate continued on Thursday in the Delhi High Court, where Justice Jyoti Singh questioned Priya Sachdev Kapur's request for a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) before revealing her late husband's personal assets.
"How much can go in a sealed cover? There is a limit to court proceedings. How do I pass this order? Show me the judgment that says you can seek confidentiality," Justice Singh asked Ms Priya.
Ms Priya had filed a petition seeking directions for Sunjay's children from his previous marriage to actress Karisma Kapoor, and his mother Rani Kapur, to sign an NDA citing "cybersecurity" concerns. On September 12, the High Court had instructed Ms Priya to disclose all assets belonging to her late husband as of June 12, the day he died.
During the hearing, Ms Priya stated she was "not shying away" from disclosing the personal assets to Karisma's children but insisted on the NDA being signed first.
She expressed concern that sensitive financial details could cause irreparable harm if disclosed without protection.
"Everything is being leaked in the media. It is embarrassing how they are conducting press conferences outside the court gate after the hearings," she stated. "Why should the public at large have access to the bank details, etc? There are cybersecurity threats."
The counsel representing Karisma Kapoor's children countered by claiming that funds had been removed from bank accounts mentioned in Sunjay's purported will.
The children opposed the NDA requirement, arguing that signing such an agreement would hinder their ability to question the will's legitimacy.
Justice Singh directed the petitioner to submit the will, stating: "How will you all file a written reply to the suit and argue cases if everything is in sealed cover? Tomorrow you will file a written statement and attach the will to it. How will they file their replies in the court."
When the petitioner requested additional time, the High Court scheduled the matter for Friday.

In their petition, Karisma's children have challenged Sunjay's March 21 will that allegedly left his entire personal estate to their stepmother, Ms Priya. The children claim that neither Sunjay mentioned this will, nor did Priya or anyone else ever speak of its existence.
The children are seeking one-fifth share each in their late father's assets. Samaira Kapur, Karisma's daughter, filed the petition through her mother as her general power of attorney; her minor brother Kiaan is also represented by their mother as legal guardian.
Ms Priya contested the suit's validity, stating: "This suit is not maintainable at all. I am his legal wife. The claims of love and affection - where was all this when they fought prolonged divorce legal battles in the Supreme Court. Your husband left you several years ago."
Meanwhile, Sunjay's mother, Rani Kapur, has filed an application seeking details of the will. She previously claimed to have lost assets worth over Rs 10,000 crore and being "left without a roof."
The High Court stated that the hearing on Ms Priya's plea will continue, and Ms Rani's petition will be addressed on Friday.
