Woman Severs Husband's Ear in Domestic Dispute in UP

She initially assaulted him physically before resorting to biting.

Amit Sonkar experienced severe bleeding after his wife, Sarika, bit off his right ear during an intense quarrel at their residence in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh on Monday evening.

"Using her teeth, she bit my ear off completely. She doesn't wish to continue our marriage. She's demanding that I leave her once she receives money and property. However, we're struggling financially as vegetable vendors. Such resources are beyond our means," explained Amit Sonkar.

According to Mr. Sonkar, he was resting on a sofa when his wife initiated an argument that escalated into physical violence.

"The house was being cleaned on Monday. She became irritated and started attacking me while I was asleep on the sofa. I pushed her away in self-defense but was beaten nonetheless. Subsequently, while she stood on the bed and I was below, she bit my ear with her teeth," he further stated.

He also alleged that his wife attacked him using a sharp object.

Their relationship began as a love story eight years ago, followed by marriage. Currently, the couple is heading toward separation with divorce proceedings already in progress.

The husband, who was seen with his right ear heavily bandaged, has lodged a police complaint against his wife, stating he no longer wishes to maintain their marital relationship.

In response, the wife has filed her own complaint against the husband, citing instances of domestic violence.

"The couple was already involved in divorce proceedings, and this disagreement resulted in physical conflict. Police have registered cases against both Sarika and Amit based on their respective complaints, and investigations are ongoing," a senior police officer reported.
