The Delhi Police Crime Branch's Cyber Cell has dismantled a significant online stock trading fraud operation involving Rs 47.23 lakh, resulting in the arrest of five additional suspects and uncovering a cyber fraud network allegedly directed by a Chinese national.
These recent arrests have increased the total number of apprehended suspects in the case to eight.
The newly arrested individuals have been identified as Manshvi Dochak, Manish Mehra, Manjeet Singh, Sombir, and Atul Sharma. Three primary operatives, including Ashish Kumar (alias Jack), were previously detained in relation to the case registered under E-FIR No. 60000097/2025 at the Cyber Police Station in South East Delhi.
According to police reports, the case involves a Chartered Accountant who was enticed through a Telegram group promoting fraudulent stock trading schemes that promised guaranteed daily profits through "Buy Today-Sell Tomorrow" strategies and IPO rating schemes. The victim was convinced to invest Rs 47.23 lakh over a two-month period via a fraudulent website and multiple fake trading applications. When the victim attempted to withdraw funds, the perpetrators resorted to intimidation and extortion tactics.
Investigations determined that Rs 31.45 lakh of the defrauded amount was transferred to a current account of Harshita Furnitures & Interiors, from which Rs 23.80 lakh was subsequently channeled to Bubai Instant Shop OPC Pvt. Ltd., a shell company allegedly established to divert fraud proceeds. The syndicate had established seven current accounts across various banks to launder money, with banking credentials connected to 1,167 FIRs and complaints on the National Cybercrime Reporting Portal.
Authorities discovered that the suspects were operating from an office in Noida and reporting to Ashish Kumar alias Jack, who allegedly received instructions from a Chinese national identified as "Tom." The network was also involved in digital arrest scams.
Police have identified fourteen fraudulent investment and trading applications utilized in the scheme. The arrests followed technical surveillance, CDR analysis, and field operations conducted in Gurugram and Haryana.
"Further investigation is ongoing to locate other beneficiaries, trace the money trail, and apprehend fugitive associates, including Tom. This operation not only resulted in the arrest of eight operatives thus far but also dismantled a sophisticated cyber fraud operation with cross-border connections," stated DCP Aditya Gautam.
