Initially suspecting it to be a prank, the inspector ignored the calls.
A woman in Bengaluru has been charged with stalking, harassing, and threatening suicide in an attempt to pressure a police inspector into a relationship with her, disrupting his official duties at Ramamurthy Nagar Police Station.
According to the complaint filed by Police Inspector Satish GJ, who has been serving as the Station House Officer since August 19, the harassment began on October 30 when he started receiving repeated WhatsApp calls on his official phone from an unknown number.
When he answered, the caller identified herself as Sanjana alias Vanaja, a resident of Ramamurthy Nagar. She allegedly spoke incoherently, declaring her love for him and insisting that he must reciprocate her feelings.
The inspector initially dismissed the calls as a prank and ignored them. However, the persistent woman continued calling from multiple phone numbers, forcing him to block each one.
She later contacted him using another number, claiming to be a Congress worker with close connections to the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister, and Home Minister. To prove her political influence, she sent photographs of herself with senior political leaders including Motamma and Laxmi Hebbalkar, threatening to use these connections if he did not respond to her advances.
The situation escalated when the inspector received calls from both the Home Minister's Office and the Deputy Chief Minister's Office inquiring why he was not attending to her case. The inspector clarified that the woman had never visited the police station to file any complaint and was behaving irrationally.
According to the complaint, the woman visited the police station when the inspector was absent, claiming to be his relative. She left a bouquet of flowers and a box of sweets in his office. Despite being warned not to send such items, her harassment continued unabated.
On November 7, 2025, the woman entered the inspector's office while he was attending to public complaints and handed him an envelope containing three letters and strips of tablets labeled "Nexito Plus" (20 tablets).
The letters contained love confessions and suicide threats, stating that she would end her life if her love was not accepted and that the inspector would be responsible for her death.
One disturbing note featured a heart symbol with the words "Chinni love you, you love me" allegedly written in blood, which the woman claimed was her own.
Despite being reminded that he was a public servant and that her persistent calls to his official number were obstructing public service, the woman insisted that he must love her.
Police investigations revealed that the same woman had previously targeted other senior and junior police officers with similar behavior. A police team visited her residence for counseling, but she was uncooperative, and her family members refused to provide any information.
On December 12, 2025, the woman returned to the police station, loudly professed her love, and threatened suicide if the inspector did not reciprocate. She also threatened to damage his reputation if he refused her advances.
Following this continued harassment, Inspector Satish filed a formal complaint. A case has been registered at the Ramamurthy Nagar Police Station on charges related to obstruction of duty, criminal intimidation, and suicide threats. The investigation is ongoing.
