Delhi Air Pollution: The government has announced financial aid for construction workers affected by anti-pollution restrictions.
New Delhi:
On Wednesday, Delhi Labour Minister Kapil Mishra revealed that construction workers left jobless due to the implementation of GRAP III and GRAP IV pollution control measures will receive Rs 10,000 as compensation.
The minister further declared that all government and private organizations must implement work-from-home arrangements for 50 percent of their staff starting Thursday or face consequences.
During his press conference, Mishra noted that GRAP III measures had been active for 16 days, and workers whose employment was affected during this period would receive the Rs 10,000 compensation.
"Workers will also be compensated for days when GRAP IV restrictions are in effect. These benefits will apply to workers registered with the government. Registration is currently ongoing," he explained.
The compensation plan excludes workers in essential services such as hospitals, departments engaged in pollution control efforts, the fire department, and other critical services.
Mishra also criticized the Aam Aadmi Party for demonstrating against the government.
"Their chief minister used to avoid the city during pollution season, but our chief minister is actively working on the streets. They are engaging in unproductive politics. We acknowledge the pollution issue, but problems that developed over 30 years cannot be resolved in just five months," he stated.
