Born on June 28, 1994, in Amman, Hussein bin Abdullah Al-Hashimi is the eldest son of King Abdullah II and Queen Rania. Named after his grandfather King Hussein, he belongs to the prestigious Hashemite royal family that has governed Jordan since 1921.

The 31-year-old Crown Prince married Rajwa Al-Saif in June 2023, and the couple welcomed their first child, Princess Iman, in August 2024.

Prince Hussein's education includes schooling in Jordan, graduation from King's Academy in 2012, a bachelor's degree in International History from Georgetown University, and military training at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, which he completed in 2017. He currently holds the rank of major in the Jordanian Armed Forces.

Officially designated as Crown Prince through a royal decree issued on July 2, 2009, Hussein began carrying out royal duties the following year. His responsibilities have included accompanying King Abdullah II on diplomatic missions and representing Jordan at major global forums such as the United Nations General Assembly, Security Council, Climate Change Conference, and the World Economic Forum.

At just 20 years old, Hussein made history in April 2015 by becoming the youngest person ever to chair a session of the UN Security Council, which resulted in the unanimous adoption of Resolution 2250 concerning youth, peace, and security.

The Crown Prince heads the Crown Prince Foundation, which oversees numerous scientific, humanitarian, and youth-focused initiatives, including a technical university. He also leads the National Council for Future Technology and supports programs promoting technological innovation, vocational training, and tourism. Under his leadership, Jordan launched its first satellite in 2018.
