The shop's CCTV camera captured the entire emergency incident.

A tense situation unfolded at Vardhman Jewellers in Kota's Rampura Bazaar when a 60-year-old gemstone trader from Jaipur suddenly collapsed from cardiac arrest while sitting at the counter on December 11. The unexpected medical emergency created immediate concern as both employees and customers hurried to provide assistance. Security footage reveals Rajkumar Soni experiencing respiratory distress before losing consciousness and falling to the floor, causing a frantic scene around him.

During this critical moment, Varun Jain (37), the shop owner's son, promptly intervened. Although without formal CPR certification, Varun applied techniques he had learned through basic awareness sessions to perform chest compressions and administer an emergency injection. Following approximately 2.5 minutes of continuous resuscitation efforts, Soni regained consciousness and began breathing again, bringing immense relief to everyone present.

Soni, who regularly travels to Kota from Jaipur's Jhotwara area for business, later mentioned experiencing chest pain before losing consciousness. After being stabilized at the scene, he was transported to a hospital for further treatment.

The emergency response, recorded on security cameras and widely circulated online, has initiated important discussions about CPR training necessity. One social media commenter noted, "Timely CPR could save the life. Hats off to all life savers." Another person remarked, "Great work. Good that he took timely action."

Importance of CPR

CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) is a critical emergency technique employed when someone's heart stops beating. This straightforward yet powerful method helps maintain blood circulation and oxygen flow to the brain until professional medical assistance arrives. CPR becomes necessary when a person collapses, becomes unresponsive, stops breathing, and has no detectable pulse.

The procedure combines chest compressions with rescue breaths to deliver oxygen and circulate blood to vital organs. When performed correctly, CPR can double or triple survival chances. Quick action is essential, as brain damage can occur within minutes without oxygen.

CPR is an accessible skill that can be learned by anyone through first aid and emergency response training courses. Having this knowledge can prove life-saving in critical situations involving family members, strangers, or individuals in public spaces.
