98 Students Fall Ill After Finding Lizard in School Meal in Odisha's Koraput District

A medical team was dispatched to the school to provide immediate emergency treatment to the affected students.

In Odisha's Koraput district, at least 98 students became ill on Saturday after consuming food that was contaminated with a lizard.

The unfortunate incident occurred at Baunsput Government UP School in Koraput's Bandhugan block. The students, all female, received their first meal early in the morning between 8-9 am. During the meal, one student discovered a dead lizard in her food, but by that point, many students had already completed their meals.

Upon being informed, the students reported the situation to the head master, who promptly contacted the hospital to request a medical team. Unfortunately, by the time medical assistance arrived, the students had already begun exhibiting symptoms of illness.

A medical team hurried to the school and immediately began administering emergency treatment to the affected students. As concerned parents and local residents question the negligence that resulted in this serious health incident, authorities have launched an investigation into the matter.
