The official oath-taking ceremony for newly elected corporation councillors is scheduled for December 21 at 11 am.

The decisive results of Kerala's 2025 local body elections will be announced on Saturday, following the counting of ballots from over two crore voters across 244 centers and 14 district collectorates throughout the state.

According to the State Election Commission (SEC), the vote counting process will begin promptly at 8 am.

These results hold significant importance as they will influence the strategic direction of political parties and alliances in Kerala ahead of the 2026 assembly elections.

State Election Commissioner A Shahjahan noted on Thursday that this year's local body polls achieved the highest voter participation rate since Kerala's first civic elections were conducted in 1995.

The elections were conducted in two phases, with SEC figures released around 9:30 pm on Thursday indicating that the second phase recorded a 76.08 percent voter turnout.

The first phase, which concluded on December 9, saw a 70.91 percent turnout, bringing the overall participation rate in the local body elections to an impressive 73.69 percent.

The official ceremony for swearing in elected panchayat members and municipal councillors is scheduled for December 21 at 10 am, while corporation councillors will take their oath at 11 am on the same day.
