Domestic Help Arrested in Mumbai for Rs 3.57 Crore Jewellery Theft from Elderly Woman's Home

Mumbai Police have arrested a domestic helper for stealing jewellery and diamonds worth Rs 3.57 crore from a 93-year-old woman's home in Marine Drive. The theft occurred over several months before being discovered when the victim's son visited from Dubai. Authorities have recovered valuables worth Rs 1.26 crore and investigations continue.

Mumbai Househelp Arrested For Stealing Jewellery Worth Rs 3.5 Crore

A domestic help has been arrested by Mumbai Police for allegedly stealing jewellery and diamonds valued at Rs 3.57 crore from a 93-year-old woman's residence in the Marine Drive area of Mumbai.

The accused, identified as Archana Salvi from Kalyan, was working as temporary household help when the theft occurred between April 27 and July 26 this year at the Bharti Bhuvan building.

The theft was discovered when the elderly woman's son, who works in Dubai, visited his mother and noticed the missing jewellery. This prompted an immediate investigation into the matter.

Police placed Salvi under surveillance and discovered suspicious financial transactions amounting to lakhs of rupees in her bank account. These findings led to her detention and subsequent arrest after she confessed to the crime.

Authorities have successfully recovered valuables worth Rs 1.26 crore from the accused, while investigations continue to recover the remaining stolen items.

Following her confession, Salvi was formally arrested and is now facing charges related to the high-value theft.
