IndiGo Processes Refunds For All Cancelled Flights, CEO Meets Regulator

IndiGo CEO Pieter Elbers visited the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on Thursday for discussions amid the airline's ongoing efforts to resolve customer complaints and operational issues reported earlier this month.

The airline announced on Thursday that refunds have been processed for all flights cancelled during the recent operational disruptions, with remaining payments expected to appear in customers' accounts shortly.

According to IndiGo's statement, customers who purchased tickets through online travel platforms or third-party agents will also receive refunds. "For bookings made through travel partner platforms, refund procedures have been initiated. As we may not have complete customer details in our system, we request affected passengers to contact us at customer.experience@goindigo.in for prompt assistance," the airline explained.

IndiGo acknowledged that passengers traveling between December 3 and December 5, 2025, experienced significant delays and were stranded at various airports due to heavy congestion.

The airline stated, "IndiGo regrettably acknowledges that some customers traveling on December 3, 4, and 5, 2025, were stranded for many hours at certain airports, with many severely affected by the congestion. We will provide travel vouchers worth INR 10,000 to these severely impacted customers, which can be used for any IndiGo journey within the next 12 months."

This compensation comes in addition to government-mandated payments ranging from Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,000 for passengers whose flights were cancelled within 24 hours of scheduled departure. "This compensation supplements existing Government guidelines, under which IndiGo will provide between INR 5,000 and INR 10,000, depending on flight block time, to customers whose flights were cancelled within 24 hours of departure," the airline clarified.

Emphasizing its commitment to service recovery, IndiGo affirmed its focus on delivering "safe, smooth, and reliable" travel experiences and expressed gratitude to passengers for their patience and continued trust.

"At IndiGo, we are dedicated to restoring the experience you expect from us—safe, smooth, and reliable. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to serve you again," an IndiGo spokesperson concluded.
