On Thursday, the Delhi Police leveraged Bollywood's influence to highlight the dangers of drug abuse. They utilized actor Akshaye Khanna's performance to illustrate the stark difference between the illusion and reality of substance abuse.

The video begins with a popular clip from the recently released film "Dhurandhar," featuring Khanna as Rehman Dakait, a feared Pakistani gangster. The scene shows him confidently exiting a vehicle, greeting his associates, and dancing carefree to "Fa9la," a rap track by Flipperachi from Bahrain. The character appears collected, powerful, and invincible, with overlay text stating: "What you think you look like when high."

This is immediately contrasted with another film clip showing Khanna in a completely different state - helpless, sweating, and convulsing on the floor. This stark visual is captioned: "But here's where you actually end up."

The Delhi Police emphasized their message on X (formerly Twitter), writing: "Do not lose control of your life as drugs only offer an illusion." They further cautioned, "Drug's high might feel real, but it's an illusion. Do not trade your truth for a moment's delusion."

Directed by Aditya Dhar, "Dhurandhar" is currently screening in theaters. The spy-action thriller stars Ranveer Singh in the lead role, with supporting performances from Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sara Arjun, and Akshaye Khanna. This film represents the first half of a two-part franchise, with the sequel scheduled for release during Eid 2026.

Earlier this year, the Uttar Pradesh Police implemented a similar creative approach for road safety, adapting a scene from the popular film "Saiyaara" for a helmet safety campaign. They digitally edited helmets onto the characters with captions encouraging protection: "Helmet peheniye, Saiyaara ko bhi pehnaiye" ("Wear a helmet, make Saiyaara wear one too") and "Savdhani hati, durghatna ghati" ("A lapse in caution leads to disaster").
