Benjamin Netanyahu and PM Modi have "agreed to meet very soon", according to Israeli officials.
Jerusalem:
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu engaged in a telephone conversation with his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi on Wednesday, during which both leaders "agreed to meet very soon", as confirmed by officials in Jerusalem.
The Israeli Prime Minister's Office shared details about the discussion between Netanyahu and PM Modi via social media, stating, "At the end of the warm and friendly conversation, the two leaders agreed to meet very soon." This anticipated visit by the Israeli prime minister follows several high-level ministerial exchanges between the two nations.
Earlier this year, various Israeli ministers visited India, including Tourism Minister Haim Katz, Economy and Industry Minister Nir Barkat, Agriculture and Food Security Minister Avi Dichter, and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, as both strategic partners work toward finalizing a Free Trade Agreement (FTA).
During Smotrich's visit, the two countries signed a Bilateral Investment Treaty (BIT). Subsequently, during Indian Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal's visit to Israel last month, they established Terms of Reference (TOR) leading toward the FTA.
Informed sources in Israel dismissed recent reports suggesting Netanyahu had postponed his trip to India due to security concerns following blasts in Delhi.
Israel has expressed "full confidence" in India's security arrangements, confirming that both sides are currently coordinating suitable dates for Netanyahu's upcoming visit.
