RSS Chief: Tamil Nadu Thiruparankundram Lamp Dispute Will Be Resolved Through Hindu Solidarity

RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat has expressed confidence that the Thiruparankundram lamp lighting dispute in Tamil Nadu can be resolved through local Hindu strength without national intervention. The controversy involves the DMK government's Supreme Court appeal against a Madras High Court order allowing devotees to light the traditional Karthigai Deepam lamp at a stone pillar near a dargah, highlighting ongoing religious tensions in the region.

Tamil Nadu Lamp Row Will Be Resolved On Basis Of Hindus' Strength: RSS Chief

RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat stated on Wednesday that the Thiruparankundram controversy in Tamil Nadu can be resolved within the state based on Hindu strength.

"The Thiruparankundram issue will be escalated if necessary. The matter is currently sub-judice. Let it resolve," he remarked.

Bhagwat was answering an audience question during the "100 years of Sangh Journey - New Horizons" event in Tiruchirappalli on Wednesday.

When asked whether the RSS should elevate the Thiruparankundram issue to national prominence, Bhagwat responded, "The awakening of Hindus in Tamil Nadu, I believe, is sufficient to achieve the desired outcome. If needed, Hindu organizations operating in Tamil Nadu will inform us, and then we'll consider it."

"Currently, I believe the issue can be resolved locally based on the strength of Hindus in Tamil Nadu," he continued.

"We may not need to escalate it. But one thing is certain - the issue will be resolved favorably for Hindus," he assured.

The DMK-led Tamil Nadu government has appealed to the Supreme Court against a Madras High Court ruling that permitted devotees of the Arulmigu Subramaniya Swamy Temple to light the traditional 'Karthigai Deepam lamp' at 'Deepathoon,' a stone lamp pillar situated on the Thiruparankundram hillock near a dargah in the vicinity of Madurai.
