Artificial Intelligence serves as an instrument for accomplishing numerous tasks efficiently, according to Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. In his conversation with NDTV, Mr. Pradhan shared his perspective on AI's potential in education and its capacity to enhance student learning experiences.
"I distinctly envision a promising trajectory for the future. AI presents an opportunity," the minister remarked.
When questioned about students utilizing AI for homework completion, Mr. Pradhan explained, "Teachers will formulate questions after preparing themselves using AI. Students will study, read, and leverage AI's capabilities. Four possibilities exist: utilizing its intelligence, identifying the appropriate solution, reporting it, and having it reassessed by two others. Through this process, teachers, students, and the entire community will become more focused on accomplishing various tasks in reduced timeframes."
Regarding his personal engagement with AI, Mr. Pradhan revealed that he engages with multiple platforms on a daily basis.
"I communicate with numerous platforms daily and deliberately do one thing: I pose many questions about society, plans, and aspirations," he stated.
"I consistently ask questions in my native language, Odiya, because I want AI repositories to incorporate our civilizational values," he added.
His inquiries span topics such as Chanakya, Skanda Purana, Mahabharata authorship, and connections between Ayurveda, turmeric, and allopathic medicine. According to the minister, this approach helps "establish a network, a pathway for interconnectedness."
The minister also addressed concerns regarding the National Education Policy 2020, particularly allegations about syllabus modifications and chapter additions or removals that might favor the "current regime."
Mr. Pradhan firmly rejected accusations of historical content erasure. "We haven't removed any chapters. Those in charge have undermined Bharat's aspirations. They have misrepresented Bharat's background and civilizational values," he asserted.
During the same interview, Mr. Pradhan dismissed Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's assertion that Generation Z stands opposed to the BJP, stating "No one possesses a monopoly on Gen Z." He referenced the Delhi University Students' Union (DUSU) elections, where the BJP's student organization, ABVP, secured three out of four key positions.
Mr. Pradhan observed, "Results indicate the trend. Gen Z supports Bharat, and PM Modi represents Bharat." He emphasized that no single political entity can claim exclusive appeal to Generation Z's preferences.
