In a tragic incident in Uttar Pradesh, a 30-year-old man committed suicide after alleging infidelity by his wife. Rahul Mishra, from Bankat village, was discovered hanging from a ceiling fan in his room.
Police arrived at the scene on Tuesday morning following distress calls from family members and sent Rahul's body for post-mortem examination. Based on the complaint filed by his mother, authorities registered a case against Rahul's wife, her alleged lover Shubham Singh, and his mother-in-law for abetment to suicide.
During their investigation, police recovered a 7-minute-and-29-second video from Rahul's phone, recorded just hours before his suicide. In this emotional recording, Rahul detailed how his wife had been unfaithful and was preventing him from seeing his child. "I don't want to die, but there is no reason left to live," he stated in the video, which has since gone viral across social media platforms.
In his final message, Rahul claimed, "My wife is having an affair with Shubham Singh, alias Danger. I forbade her many times, but she wouldn't listen. I was not allowed to meet my child. My mother-in-law encouraged her behavior and even blocked my number. My father-in-law is mentally unwell. I love my wife and child deeply, but I cannot endure this separation any longer."
Rahul also mentioned struggling with significant debt and workplace pressure. He alleged that his wife had filed multiple false complaints against him. "Since 2014, men have not been heard anywhere. Girls are not always right. There is a strong need to amend Section 498A of the IPC," he stated in his final video.
According to NDTV India, Rahul and his wife had married for love five years ago, with the woman coming from a different caste background.
Police are currently examining the video evidence and plan to interrogate the accused individuals soon. This case has reignited discussions about domestic violence against men and related legal provisions in India.
