Woman Dies After Unauthorized Surgery Performed by Intoxicated Man Who Learned from YouTube in Uttar Pradesh

The pair was allegedly operating a clinic without proper authorization, according to police reports.

A tragic incident occurred in Uttar Pradesh's Barabanki where a woman lost her life after the proprietor of an unauthorized clinic and his nephew performed surgery on her after merely watching a YouTube tutorial video.

Police confirmed they were running the medical facility without any valid licenses or permissions.

Munishra Rawat, the wife of Tehbahadur Rawat, was suffering from a stone-related medical condition. On December 5, her husband took her to Shri Damodar Aushdhalaya in Kothi, where clinic operator Gyan Prakash Mishra reportedly informed him that his wife's abdominal pain was caused by stones and recommended surgical intervention.

Mishra quoted Rs 25,000 as the cost for the surgical procedure.

The husband paid Rs 20,000 prior to the surgery, as stated by police.

In his official complaint, the husband claimed that Mishra was intoxicated and began the surgical procedure after watching instructional content on YouTube.

He further alleged that Mishra made a significant incision in his wife's abdomen, severing multiple veins, which resulted in her death the following evening on December 6.

Vivek Kumar Mishra, the operator's nephew, assisted during the botched procedure.

According to police, the nephew is employed at an ayurvedic hospital in Raebareli, and the illegal clinic had allegedly been functioning for many years under the cover of his government position.

Authorities have now sealed the clinic.

A criminal case has been filed against both the clinic operator and his nephew for causing death by negligence, along with additional charges under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989. Police are actively working to apprehend the accused individuals.
