A daily-wage worker's family in Punjab's Faridkot district experiences mixed emotions after winning a substantial lottery prize of Rs 1.5 crore.
Ram Singh and his wife Naseeb Kaur, who work as farm laborers in Saideke village, purchased a lottery ticket for just Rs 200 that resulted in them winning the grand prize in the Punjab State Lottery.
Unfortunately, their happiness quickly transformed into anxiety as news of their winnings spread throughout their community. The couple became increasingly concerned about becoming targets for criminals who might attempt robbery or demand ransom.
Taking precautionary measures, the family secured their home, turned off their mobile devices, and relocated to an undisclosed location to ensure their safety.
Upon learning about the situation on Tuesday, Faridkot police immediately reached out to provide security assurances to the distressed family.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Tarlochan Singh stated, "We discovered today that Naseeb Kaur had purchased a Rs 200 lottery ticket approximately 15-20 days ago, which won her Rs 1.5 crore."
He added, "The family expressed concerns about potential harm or ransom demands following their sudden financial gain. We have reassured them that the police are committed to ensuring public safety, and they will be protected from any harm."
