Delhi blast near Red Fort resulted in 15 casualties.
Srinagar:
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has apprehended another doctor in connection with the Delhi blast case that claimed over a dozen lives. Dr. Bilal Naseer Malla reportedly harboured suicide bomber Dr. Umar and provided logistical assistance, according to NIA confirmation.
The anti-terror agency, investigating both the Delhi blast and an associated "white-collar terror module," revealed that Dr. Malla, from Baramulla district in Jammu and Kashmir, is the eighth suspect arrested in the case. NIA officials detained the doctor in Delhi today, identifying him as a central figure in the conspiracy.
In addition to supporting Dr. Umar, who killed 15 people in his suicide bombing near the Red Fort on November 10, the arrested doctor faces charges of destroying evidence related to the terrorist attack.
"NIA investigations revealed his involvement in the terrorist attack conspiracy that resulted in 11 deaths and numerous injuries in the Red Fort area," stated the agency. "According to NIA findings, Bilal knowingly harboured the deceased suspect Umar Un Nabi by providing logistical support. He is also accused of destroying evidence connected to the terrorist attack."
In an official statement, the NIA confirmed ongoing investigation into the conspiracy behind this deadly terror act. The agency is collaborating closely with various central and state authorities to fully uncover all aspects of the conspiracy.
One month following the Delhi blast, the NIA brought key suspect Dr. Adeel Rather to Kashmir and conducted search operations in an Anantnag forest area. These searches aimed to uncover a broader conspiracy involving doctors who had turned to terrorism.
NIA investigators, supported by Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police personnel, initiated searches in a dense forest region this morning. Sources indicate that suspicious items were recovered during these operations.
Another suspect taken for the search was Jasir Bilal Wani, a student with drone expertise, who was arrested by the NIA for participation in the white-collar terror module.
Dr. Adeel, considered crucial to the investigation, was a close associate of Dr. Umar. Following the arrests of Dr. Adeel Rather and Dr. Muzamil Ganai, Jammu and Kashmir Police recovered approximately 300 kilograms of explosive material from Haryana. Subsequently, several suspects have been arrested, and dozens questioned regarding the blast and terror conspiracy case.
