Delhi Man Arrested for Sending Hoax Bomb Threats to Frame Rival in Elaborate Revenge Plot

Police investigations uncovered that personal vengeance motivated the threatening communications.

On Tuesday, Delhi Police apprehended an individual for cyber harassment and criminal intimidation after he sent numerous threatening emails to senior police officials across several states.

According to law enforcement authorities, official email addresses belonging to Police Commissioners in Delhi, Bengaluru, and Rajasthan, along with various police control room units, received alarming messages threatening bomb explosions at airports and prominent shopping centers.

The messages were crafted in an extortion-like format, generating widespread concern. The sender deliberately included the mobile number of a man named Mohit, employed at a Delhi consultancy firm, to frame him as the perpetrator of these threats.

Interestingly, the emails contained no monetary demands. The inclusion of Mohit's personal information, coupled with additional cyber complaints filed using his identity, initially directed police suspicion toward him before investigators discovered the actual truth.

Cyber unit specialists traced the communications to fabricated email accounts created specifically for distributing these hoax bomb threats. Following the digital evidence trail, authorities identified and arrested the actual culprit, identified as Abhayashree.

Police sources confirmed that personal revenge served as the primary motivation behind these actions.

According to investigators, the accused had been involved in a conflict with Mohit regarding a mutual female acquaintance. When Mohit disregarded his warnings and confrontation attempts, the accused reportedly escalated the situation into a criminal scheme designed to falsely implicate him.

In an effort to increase pressure, the accused also attempted to submit fraudulent complaints through Swiggy and various other applications while continuing to issue threats.

Delhi Police have stated that investigations continue to determine if other individuals were involved and to evaluate any potential security vulnerabilities resulting from these false threats.
