Adani Group Commits Over $75 Billion to Energy Transition: Building World's Largest Renewable Energy Park in India

Gautam Adani announces a substantial $75 billion investment in energy transition over five years, highlighting the development of the world's largest renewable energy park in Khavda, Gujarat. The project aims to generate 30 GW of green energy by 2030, while Adani defends India's sustainability position by contextualizing its comparatively low per capita emissions despite being the third-largest electricity consumer globally.

Adani Group To Invest Over $75 Billion In Energy Transition Space In 5 Years

Gautam Adani announced that India ranks as the world's third-largest electricity consumer during his address at Dhanbad.

The chairman of Adani Group, Gautam Adani, revealed on Tuesday that his conglomerate plans to invest more than USD 75 billion in energy transition initiatives over the next five years. He emphasized that India must determine its own development trajectory, do what serves its best interests, and withstand external pressures.

During his speech at the centennial celebration of the Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines) in Dhanbad, Adani highlighted that the group is constructing the world's largest renewable energy park at Khavda, Gujarat, encompassing 520 square kilometers.

"When operating at full capacity by 2030, this park will generate 30 gigawatts of green energy. Based on average household usage, this would be sufficient to power more than 60 million homes annually," he stated.

"With the initial 10 GW already operational, we are progressing toward delivering the world's most cost-effective green electron, establishing a global standard in energy transition," he further noted.

Adani pointed out that while India stands as the world's third-largest electricity consumer, its per capita consumption remains "below 1,400 kWh annually, less than half the global average, one-tenth of American consumption, and one-fifth of European levels."

Addressing the global sustainability discourse, Adani remarked, "This narrative emerged at the 2025 COP-30, where a report lowered India's sustainability ranking, arguing that our country lacks a timeline for phasing out coal and continues to auction coal blocks."

"Indeed, we rank third in total CO₂ emissions. However, on a per capita basis, our citizens emit under 2 tonnes—compared to 14 tonnes in the US, 9 tonnes in China, and 6 tonnes in Europe," he explained.

"Throughout 200 years of industrial activity, India has contributed merely 4 percent of cumulative global emissions, contrasted with 13 percent from Europe, 19 percent from the US, and 20 percent from China," he concluded.
