Tikamgarh, Madhya Pradesh:
A 52-year-old farmer collapsed and subsequently died from a heart attack while waiting in a queue to obtain fertiliser on Monday in a village located in Tikamgarh district of Madhya Pradesh, according to officials.
The tragic event occurred at a warehouse in Badora village, and the deceased was identified as Jamuna Kushwaha, officials confirmed.
"My brother had been traveling for two consecutive days from our village Bajrua, approximately eight kilometres away from the warehouse, in an attempt to secure two bags of urea," the deceased Jamuna Kushwaha's younger brother, Chhakki, told PTI.
"While standing in the queue and waiting for his turn, he began vomiting and experiencing dizziness," he explained.
Local tehsildar Satendra Gurjar, who was present at the location, transported the farmer to the district hospital in his own vehicle, but unfortunately, Kushwaha died during treatment.
Authorities have registered a case regarding this incident.
Dehat police station house officer Chandrajeet Yadav stated that Jamuna Kushwaha's death was attributed to a heart attack, based on the preliminary post-mortem report conducted by Dr. Deepak Ojha.
For several days, farmers throughout Tikamgarh district have been demonstrating against the shortage of urea fertiliser. Amid this scarcity, some farmers in Jatara town resorted to looting 30 to 40 bags of urea from a truck parked at a local fertiliser distribution centre last week.
On Monday, cultivators from Baldeogarh and Khargapur areas blocked the Tikamgarh-Chhatarpur road for nearly three hours to protest the non-availability of fertiliser, causing traffic disruptions, officials reported.
