Daring Highway Heist: Thieves on Motorcycles Steal Luggage from Moving Bus in Maharashtra

The Beed Police has initiated serious action following an alarming incident in Maharashtra.

A startling robbery has been captured on video in Maharashtra's Beed district, where motorcyclists executed a daring theft by stealing passenger luggage from a moving bus traveling on the Solapur-Dhule highway. The footage, which has gone viral on social media platform X, documents a thief climbing onto the fast-moving vehicle and accessing its rear storage compartment, tossing bags onto the road for his partners to collect.

This bold heist occurred in October 2025, with the criminals following a private travel bus transporting wedding attendees. Video evidence shows a passenger on one motorcycle standing on his companion's shoulders to reach the bus's rear ladder while the vehicle was in motion. After climbing to the top, he opened the luggage storage area and threw multiple bags onto the highway. His accomplices, who were trailing the bus, quickly gathered ten bags containing valuables before making their escape.

The video footage of this crime has been shared widely online.

The Beed Police Department has responded with urgency to these incidents, with the district's Superintendent of Police directing enhanced patrolling and monitoring along the national highway. Beed SP Navneet Kanwat confirmed that highway surveillance efforts have been increased to apprehend the perpetrators and prevent similar crimes.

Police intelligence indicates that thefts and robberies targeting stationary or slow-moving travel buses have increased significantly in recent weeks.

Law enforcement officials have advised travelers to remain alert, avoid storing valuable items in external luggage compartments, and promptly report any suspicious activities. Businesses operating along the highway, including hotels and restaurants, have been instructed to maintain functional CCTV systems and notify police of any unusual behavior or movements in the area.
