Married in January 2020, Nikita claims she was sent back to Pakistan during COVID-19 lockdown under false pretenses and has since been denied re-entry to India despite her marital status.

Pakistani Woman Begs PM Modi For Justice As Husband Prepares Delhi Wedding

A Pakistani woman named Nikita Nagdev has reached out to Prime Minister Narendra Modi through a video appeal, seeking justice after her husband allegedly abandoned her in Karachi while secretly planning a second marriage in Delhi.

Nikita married Vikram Nagdev, a Pakistani-origin man residing in Indore on a long-term visa, on January 26, 2020, in Karachi according to Hindu traditions. After bringing her to India in February, Vikram reportedly abandoned her at the Attari border in July 2020, claiming there was a "visa technicality."

In her emotional video message from Karachi, Nikita stated, "I repeatedly asked him to help me return to India, but he refused every time." She expressed concern that if justice is not served in her case, women will lose faith in the judicial system.

According to Nikita, the problems began shortly after their marriage when she discovered her husband was allegedly having an affair with one of her relatives. When she confronted her father-in-law about this, he dismissed her concerns, saying, "Boys have affairs, nothing can be done."

Nikita further claimed that during the COVID-19 lockdown, Vikram forced her to return to Pakistan and has since denied her entry into India. While in Karachi, she learned that Vikram was preparing to marry a woman from Delhi, despite still being legally married to her.

Distressed by this situation, Nikita filed a formal complaint on January 27, 2025. The case was brought before the Sindhi Panch Mediation and Legal Counsel Centre, which is authorized by the Madhya Pradesh High Court. Despite attempts at mediation, no resolution was reached.

The Centre's report from April 30, 2025, concluded that since neither spouse holds Indian citizenship, the matter falls under Pakistani jurisdiction, and recommended Vikram's deportation to Pakistan.

This isn't the first time the case has gained attention in Indore. In May 2025, when Nikita approached the Indore Social Panchayat, they also recommended Vikram's deportation. Indore Collector Ashish Singh has confirmed that an investigation has been ordered, and appropriate action will follow based on the findings.
