Assam CID Concludes Investigation into Zubeen Garg's Death: Chargesheet Reveals Evidence of Murder

Assam's Criminal Investigation Department has completed their probe into popular singer Zubeen Garg's mysterious death in Singapore, with authorities confirming all evidence has been collected and a detailed chargesheet will be submitted soon. Multiple arrests have been made, including the singer's manager and associates, with Assam's Chief Minister describing the case as "plain and simple murder."

Assam Cops Wrap Up Zubeen Garg Probe, Will Submit Chargesheet Next Week

The mysterious death of renowned singer Zubeen Garg in Singapore on September 19 has reached a critical investigation milestone, with Assam's Criminal Investigation Department (CID) concluding their probe.

In an exclusive interview with NDTV, Special Investigation Team (SIT) chief and Assam Police Special DGP MP Gupta revealed, "All required documents and evidence have come from Singapore, and the chargesheet has detailed evidence against the accused. We will submit the chargesheet in a few days."

Gupta further elaborated, "The investigation is in an extremely advanced stage; we are wrapping it up, and all required documents have come from Singapore as well. We have received all forensic reports and medico-legal reports. The charge sheet would be based on oral, electronic, and document-based evidence. All vital witnesses in Singapore have voluntarily helped us by joining the investigation."

He emphasized that the entire investigation was conducted in strict accordance with legal provisions.

Zubeen Garg tragically died while swimming in the sea in Singapore, where he had traveled to participate in the 4th edition of the North East India Festival (NEIF).

Following the incident, authorities arrested several individuals including NEIF chief organiser Shyamkanu Mahanta, the singer's manager Siddharth Sharma, and his band members Shekhar Jyoti Goswami and Amrit Prabha Mahanta.

Additionally, Garg's cousin, Assam Police DSP Sandipan Garg, was also taken into custody in connection with the singer's death.

The investigation further led to the arrest of Garg's PSOs Nandeswar Bora and Prabin Baishya after police discovered significant financial transactions exceeding Rs 1.1 crore from their accounts.

In a recent development, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma addressed the state assembly last week, characterizing the singer's death as a case of "plain and simple murder."
