Mary Millben Praises PM Modi as "Most Important Leader in Geopolitics" Following India-Russia Summit

Mary Millben has positioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the center of contemporary geopolitical discourse, highlighting his significant global influence.

African American vocalist Mary Millben, known for her enduring admiration of India, has characterized Prime Minister Narendra Modi as "the most influential and the most important leader right now in geopolitics." In her conversation with IANS, she praised Modi's diplomatic approach during his recent New Delhi summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin and advocated for Washington to reconsider its diplomatic stance toward India.

Millben elaborated that the Modi-Putin engagement demonstrated a "deep alliance" between their nations and should be interpreted within the broader framework of India's expanding international role. "From the perspective of Prime Minister Modi and President Putin, it was a great meeting," she noted, further explaining that "this is certainly a deep alliance between India and Russia, similar in the context of the deep roots and alliance that the United States shares with India."

According to Millben, PM Modi demonstrated characteristic strategic discipline during the meeting, particularly regarding energy and defense matters. "The Prime Minister was... diplomatic and strategic with his words," she observed, drawing a distinction with Putin's more pronounced emphasis on oil and defense cooperation.

She emphasized that Modi's diplomatic approach was fundamentally grounded in national interest: "At the end of the day, the Prime Minister is going to do what is best for India... Every leader's going to look at what is strategically best for their country."

Millben asserted that Modi's stature has established him as a central figure in today's geopolitical landscape. "The Prime Minister... is right now, to date, the most influential and the most important leader in geopolitics. That's irrefutable," she declared. "The Prime Minister has positioned India and certainly himself as the most important leader... in geopolitics," she reiterated.

Millben, who maintains close relationships with President Donald Trump and his associates, offered pointed criticism of the Trump administration's recent stance toward New Delhi. She described the approach to India on trade as "too aggressive" and went "as far as to say... in a bullying approach."

"India is our friend, our longest and strongest democratic partner," she emphasized. "It is okay to go to the table with... positive and healthy discord while coming out still understanding good business with friends." She suggested that the "unfortunate aggression" had manifested in intensifying diplomatic engagements among major global powers, including India's relations with Russia and China.

She urged Trump to view the New Delhi summit as an opportunity for recalibration: "I hope that the Trump administration and the President will sit back and look at this meeting... with new eyes and a new perspective."

Millben went further by recommending that Trump extend an invitation to PM Modi for an official visit to Washington. "My advice... after seeing this meeting... invite the Prime Minister to the United States... sit down, break bread, apologise, and repair the relationship," she suggested.

Such a diplomatic gesture, she argued, would strengthen American interests, particularly in facilitating Russia-Ukraine peace efforts. Modi, she contended, is "the best leader and the only leader who can really be a mediator" among the key stakeholders.

Millben also noted that global leaders are attentively monitoring the US election calendar. "Every leader across the world knows the truth of our election seasons... November will be a big indicator as to how many of these leaders will move forward with their agendas," she observed.

She expressed confidence in the relationship between President Trump and PM Modi, describing them as longtime friends. "I really do believe that the President and Prime Minister... are friends, they have been friends," she stated.

She concluded that Modi's recent diplomatic endeavors underscore his global standing: "His leadership has been on full display in such a way that has solidified his legitimacy and certainly global confidence... He's certainly outsmarted everybody, and I applaud him for that."

The Modi-Putin summit in New Delhi marked a significant renewal of high-level engagement between India and Russia, whose strategic partnership encompasses defense, energy, space, and nuclear cooperation. Since the beginning of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, India has maintained open dialogue with both Moscow and Kyiv, establishing itself as one of the few major nations with functioning diplomatic channels to all parties involved.

Millben, who has performed for both Indian and American leaders and has emerged as an informal cultural ambassador between these two democracies, has consistently advocated for stronger India-US relations and frequently commended PM Modi's leadership in global forums.
