Approximately 90 students from Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) in Arunachal Pradesh's Pakke Kesang district embarked on a grueling 65-kilometer march to protest the critical shortage of teachers at their institution.
The determined group of students began their journey from Nyangno village on Sunday, continuing through the night before arriving at the district headquarters in Lemmi the following morning.
The demonstration, spearheaded by Class 11 and 12 students, specifically called for the immediate appointment of Geography and Political Science teachers. Protestors carried signs with messages such as "a school without a teacher is just a building" while chanting slogans to emphasize their demands.
According to the students, their numerous requests for teaching staff had been consistently ignored by both school administration and education department officials.
Local authorities noted that the students undertook this march without informing either their hostel warden or school administration about their plans.
When questioned, the school's headmistress acknowledged the absence of Geography and Political Science teachers but maintained that the institution has sufficient instructors for other subjects. She also stated that the curriculum for the upcoming half-yearly examinations has already been completed.
