Guwahati:
In preparation for Assam's 2026 assembly election, the opposition Congress party is implementing a new grassroots outreach strategy across the state as part of their revitalization efforts.
The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) is preparing to introduce its new initiative titled 'Raijor Padulit Raijor Congress' (People's Congress at the People's Doorstep).
This program will officially launch on December 6 in Dibrugarh, featuring APCC president Gaurav Gogoi and other prominent party leaders. The event will occur simultaneously in-person and across digital platforms, with Bhupen Bora leading campaign responsibilities and Debrabrata Saikia handling coordination efforts.
At the heart of this initiative is a comprehensive statewide effort to gather citizens' aspirations through specially designed 'Aspiration Boxes'.
The campaign aims to connect with diverse population segments including tea garden workers, farmers, women's collectives, self-help groups, students, and rural communities, using their feedback to shape the party's electoral approach.
Lok Sabha MP Pradyut Bordoloi, who chairs the Congress manifesto committee in Assam, stated: "In Assam, people from all castes and communities, from Sadiya to Dhubri, from Barak to Brahmaputra form one Assamese community. Chaulung Sukaphaa united this land, and Srimanta Sankardeva gave us our vision and identity. Congress aims to listen to everyone's concerns and aspirations, and find ways to fulfill them."
"Beginning December 6 in Dibrugarh, we will engage with people to rebuild Assam free from corruption and fear and develop a forward-looking manifesto. Through this process, we will establish the 'Raijor Padulit Raijor Congress'," he added.
The party intends to implement this campaign across all organizational levels - booth, mandal, and district. Congress plans to distribute these 'Aspiration Boxes' throughout Assam in high-traffic public areas including marketplaces, community halls, bus stops, playgrounds, tea garden labor lines, and outside educational institutions to maximize public participation.
The initiative will progressively expand to all 35 districts, with plans to deploy over 3,000 boxes in a phased implementation approach.
