Hostel Administrator Arrested For Sexually Assaulting 9-Year-Old Girl

A nine-year-old girl was sexually assaulted, allegedly by the man running the hostel she was staying in Tamil Nadu's Krishnagiri district.

Chennai:

A nine-year-old girl was reportedly sexually assaulted by the administrator of the hostel where she was staying in Tamil Nadu's Krishnagiri district.

The perpetrator has been taken into custody under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

According to police reports, the administrator's spouse, a teacher, and two additional individuals have also been arrested for allegedly attempting to negotiate a settlement. All five suspects have been placed in judicial custody.

Police stated that the victim, a Class IV student residing in a private hostel in Hosur, was allegedly assaulted by the facility's administrator.

The arrests followed a complaint filed by the child's mother.

"We have completed the medical examination and the survivor and her family are receiving counseling services," a police officer informed NDTV.

In recent months, the main opposition party, AIADMK, has claimed that women's safety has deteriorated due to an alleged increase in sexual crimes against women throughout the state.

The ruling DMK party and state police have rejected these allegations, asserting that Tamil Nadu provides better safety for women compared to many other states.

They also emphasize that strict action is implemented in every case, with expedited trials to ensure prompt convictions.

Police confirmed that further investigation into the matter is ongoing.
