New Delhi:
The Civil Aviation Ministry announced Friday that it has implemented 24-hour monitoring to address the unprecedented disruption resulting from widespread cancellation and delay of IndiGo flights throughout India.
The Ministry shared on X (formerly Twitter), "Following instructions from Honorable Minister Sh. Ram Mohan Naidu Ji, the ministry's control room has been continuously engaged to maintain vigilance over the extraordinary situation arising from IndiGo flight cancellations and delays."
The statement revealed that Minister Naidu personally visited the control room Friday morning to evaluate its operations and review coordination efforts. This assessment emphasized ensuring effective communication among all stakeholders, with particular focus on delivering prompt and accurate information to affected passengers.
The Ministry further stated, "Real-time updates from all airports are under constant monitoring to ensure appropriate response and resource deployment, especially for assisting passengers stranded at various terminals." Officials are systematically gathering operational data from airport authorities, IndiGo, other airlines, and Air Traffic Control to enhance situation management.
Emphasizing the extensive coordination efforts underway, the Ministry indicated that consolidated information is being distributed to all carriers, particularly IndiGo, along with instructions to deploy additional personnel and support resources.
"Information from airport operators, airlines and ATC is being compiled and shared with all airlines, especially IndiGo, accompanied by necessary directives to mobilize resources and ensure timely, proactive measures to restore normal operations at airports nationwide," the statement continued.
Meanwhile, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has issued an appeal to the Airline Pilots' Association of India (ALPA India) and Pilots for Cooperation amid ongoing airline operational disruptions across the country. According to the latest report, over 500 IndiGo flights faced delays or cancellations on Friday, causing significant inconvenience to travelers.
