Wedding ceremonies are scheduled from December 4 to December 7 in Bahrain.
Jay Pawar, son of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, is preparing for his marriage to long-time friend Rutuja Patil in Bahrain. The intimate four-day celebration will host close family members, friends, and a limited number of political associates.
The main ceremonies will take place from December 4 to December 7 at the luxurious Jumeirah property in Bahrain, according to the wedding invitation.
Despite being among Maharashtra's most influential political families, the Pawars have opted for a strictly private wedding. Sources familiar with the arrangements reveal that invitations have been limited to approximately 400 guests, making this considerably smaller than typical political weddings.
From Ajit Pawar's political circle, only two senior party leaders have reportedly received invitations: Praful Patel, the National Working President of the NCP, and Sunil Tatkare, the state party chief.
According to the Hindustan Times, the decision to maintain an intimate gathering stems from the family's desire to avoid creating a public spectacle, particularly given the current political climate in Maharashtra.
Jay Pawar, the younger son of Ajit Pawar and MP Sunetra Pawar, has maintained a relatively low profile compared to his politically active family members. Until the NCP split in 2023, Jay was primarily focused on managing the family's business interests in Dubai, as reported by The Print.
Since the party split, he has become more visible during key election periods. Jay campaigned for his mother during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and later supported his father during the state assembly polls that same year, according to the Free Press Journal.
Party functionaries describe Jay as "well-spoken and well-mannered" and someone who has recently become involved in "grassroots matters."
Rutuja Patil, the bride-to-be, holds a Bachelor of Design degree from Los Angeles. She briefly worked with the renowned public relations firm Adfactors PR before joining her father Pravin Patil's consultancy, ElevateEdge Consulting Group.
Pravin Patil's company specializes in social media management and digital political communication. Reports indicate that his firm played a significant role in the campaign efforts for both Ajit Pawar and Sunetra Pawar during last year's Lok Sabha and Assembly elections.
Sources close to both families describe the couple's relationship as one that has developed steadily over the past decade, forming the foundation for this high-profile wedding.
The four-day celebration follows a detailed schedule: December 4 begins with the traditional Mehendi ceremony, marking the formal start of the pre-wedding rituals. December 5 features the Haldi ceremony in the morning, followed by the Baarat procession and main wedding rituals. The afternoon of December 6 is reserved for beach games, with the evening hosting the Sangeet ceremony—a major highlight for guests. The final day, December 7, concludes the celebrations with a grand reception for all 400 invited guests.
This celebration follows closely after another wedding within the extended family. On November 30, Yugendra Pawar, son of Ajit Pawar's elder brother Shrinivas, was married in Mumbai. Ajit Pawar missed that wedding due to campaign responsibilities related to the first phase of local body elections.
Despite political differences, the extended Pawar family has shown warmth in recent days. Sharing photographs on social media platform X, Supriya Sule wrote: "So happy for our Jay, and a warm welcome to Rutuja! Congratulations to both of you! Stay happy and blessed."
Of particular public interest is whether Sharad Pawar, the NCP (SP) president and Ajit Pawar's uncle, will attend Jay's wedding. While Sharad Pawar attended Yugendra's wedding last week, there has been no official confirmation regarding his presence at the Bahrain ceremony.
