Bhubaneswar:
On Thursday, police arrested a guest faculty member from the Odisha government-operated Utkal Sangeet Mahavidyalaya in Bhubaneswar for allegedly sexually harassing a female student, as confirmed by authorities.
According to ACP Ramesh Chandra Bisoi, the arrest was made following a written complaint submitted by the college principal at Kharvelnagar police station.
The drama instructor was removed from his position after allegations of sexual harassment against a minor emerged, which prompted significant student protests at the institution.
College principal Bijay Kumar Jena stated that he dismissed the guest faculty after receiving complaints from female students regarding his behavior.
A three-member investigative committee from the Odisha Language, Literature and Culture Department, led by special secretary Deba Prasad Das, visited the campus to meet with administrators and students.
Das mentioned that the committee will recommend the government blacklist the teacher, preventing his future appointment at any educational institution.
