Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday inaugurated the redeveloped Tripureswari temple in Tripura's Gomati district and offered prayers at the shrine.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday inaugurated the newly redeveloped Tripureswari temple, located in Tripura's Gomati district, and performed prayers at this sacred shrine.

The ceremony was attended by Governor N Indrasena Reddy, Chief Minister Manik Saha, along with various senior government officials.

Despite the intense heat, masses of people gathered outside the temple premises, eager to catch sight of the Prime Minister.

This historic temple, which dates back more than five centuries, is recognized as one of the 51 'Shakti Peethas' in Hindu tradition. The redevelopment project was completed under the Central government's PRASAD (Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual Augmentation Drive) scheme with an investment of Rs 52 crore.

Originally constructed in 1501 by 'Maharaja' Dhanya Manikya, the temple holds significant cultural and religious importance for the region of Agartala.
