Noida:
Police have apprehended four individuals, including a site engineer employed at the Noida International Airport construction site in Jewar, for allegedly stealing aluminium cables valued at approximately Rs 15 lakh. Authorities revealed on Wednesday that additional airport personnel are now under investigation in connection with the theft.
According to Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP) Sudhir Kumar, officers from the Ecotech-1 police station detained the suspects on Tuesday night. The team recovered seven bundles of aluminium cables, a canter truck with a falsified license plate, and a car from the accused.
The site engineer, identified as 22-year-old Shivam Sharma from Aligarh, reportedly facilitated access to the valuable cables. His accomplices included Irshad Ahmed (23), a driver; Mohammad Siraj (21), a car assistant; and Izhar, also known as Sonu (26), a scrap dealer. All three accomplices are residents of Siddharthnagar district and allegedly assisted in removing and selling the stolen materials.
"During interrogation, the suspects admitted to stealing the cables from within the airport premises and suggested that other employees at the construction site might be involved as well. We are currently investigating these additional connections," the ADCP stated.
Law enforcement officials confirmed that legal proceedings have been initiated, with a First Information Report (FIR) registered under Sections 317(5), 318(4), and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) at the Ecotech-1 police station in Gautam Buddh Nagar.
