At a ceremony held at Indira Gandhi Park in Itanagar, he virtually laid foundation stones for two significant hydropower projects in Shi Yomi district and a convention center in Tawang.

The Tato-I project, with a 186 mw capacity, will be jointly developed by the Arunachal Pradesh government and the North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Limited (NEEPCO) at a cost of Rs 1,750 crore. This project is expected to generate approximately 802 million units of electricity annually.

Similarly, the 240-mw Heo project will also be collaboratively developed by the state government and NEEPCO at Rs 1,939 crore, with an estimated annual production of 1,000 million units of electricity.

These projects, to be constructed on the Yarjep river, form part of a broader initiative to expand Arunachal Pradesh's hydroelectric capacity, making a substantial contribution to regional energy security, according to officials.

The Prime Minister also laid the foundation stone for a convention center in Tawang, which will be constructed under the PM-DevINE scheme at Rs 145.37 crore. This facility will accommodate over 1,500 people, meeting international standards while supporting the region's tourism and cultural potential.

Additionally, PM Modi launched several other infrastructure projects totaling more than Rs 1,290 crore, addressing various sectors including connectivity, healthcare, and fire safety.

Among these initiatives is a Rs 217.19-crore State Cancer Institute in Itanagar, a Rs 69.35-crore road in Upper Siang district that will provide first-time connectivity to the remote village of Peki Modi, and a Rs 96.26-crore road from Amuli to Athunli via Leyaka Pass in Dibang Valley.

The Prime Minister also laid foundation stones for working women's hostels across 26 districts to be developed at Rs 187.98 crore, nine new fire stations to be built at Rs 40.50 crore, and the upgrading of the 2nd Armed Police Battalion at Aalo for Rs 39.89 crore.

Furthermore, foundation stones were laid for 530 new ministerial bungalows and staff quarters across 23 districts at a cost of Rs 420 crore, accommodation facilities for officers in all districts at Rs 420 crore, and residential buildings in the newly created districts of Bichom, Keyi Panyor, and Lepa Rada, with a development cost of Rs 25 crore.

Additionally, foundation stones were laid for mini secretariats in the three new districts, with a development budget of Rs 25 crore.

The Prime Minister stated that the unveiled projects exemplified the "double benefits" of the "double-engine" government.

"Arunachal is moving forward. The new power projects announced today will make the state a major power producer, create thousands of jobs, and provide affordable electricity," he remarked.

"Be it ease of education, ease of business, ease of travel, or ease of treatment, our double-engine government is working to make life easier for every citizen," he added.

Governor KT Parnaik, Chief Minister Pema Khandu, and Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju were among the dignitaries present at the event.
