A 29-year-old woman successfully delivered quadruplets - three girls and one boy - at a charitable hospital in Indore, Madhya Pradesh on Wednesday, according to hospital officials.

The medical administrator at Shri Indore Cloth Market Hospital, Dr. Aditya Somani, confirmed to PTI that all four babies were delivered via cesarean section.

"We made the decision to perform a cesarean section to ensure the safety of both the mother and her four babies. The operation was challenging and took approximately one hour to complete," Dr. Somani explained.

According to Dr. Somani, the newborn quadruplets weighed between 800 grams and 1.5 kilograms at birth.

"This marks the first instance of quadruplet birth at our hospital. We are pleased to report that both the mother and all four babies are doing well," he added.

Medical statistics indicate that quadruplet births are extremely rare, occurring naturally in only about one in 700,000 births worldwide.
