Tragic Accident: Army Soldier Dies When Tank Sinks During Training Exercise in Rajasthan Canal

Police reported that the soldier's body was only recovered after an extensive hours-long operation.

A tragic incident occurred during a standard military exercise in Rajasthan's Sriganganagar district, resulting in the death of an Army soldier when a tank sank in the Indira Gandhi canal on Tuesday morning.

According to police statements, the tank carried two soldiers at the time of the incident. While one soldier successfully escaped, the other became trapped inside the sinking vehicle.

Police officials explained, "The accident happened during a routine training exercise where armored vehicles were practicing canal crossing maneuvers. The tank became stuck in the middle of the waterway and began to sink."

Emergency response was swift, with police teams joining forces with the State Disaster Response Force and civil defence units to conduct rescue operations at the location. After several hours of effort, they managed to retrieve the soldier's body from the submerged tank.

Authorities confirmed that "A postmortem examination will be conducted on Wednesday" to determine the official cause of death.
