Telangana CM Revanth Reddy's Comments on Hindu Deities Spark Political Controversy

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy faces intense backlash from BJP and BRS after his casual remarks about Hindu deities during a party meeting. Opposition parties have called for protests and apologies, claiming his comments insulted Hindu sentiments and revealed anti-Hindu bias in the Congress party. The controversy has rapidly escalated into a significant political issue across the state.

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has found himself at the center of a political controversy after making casual comments about Hindu deities during a party executive meeting.

The Chief Minister's remarks, which he described as being shared "in a lighter vein," have provoked strong reactions from opposition parties including the BJP and BRS, who claim his words disrespected Hindu faith.

During the meeting, Reddy remarked: "How many deities are there in Hinduism? How many deities? Three crores? Why? For those who are unmarried, there is god hanuman. For those who are married twice, there is another god. For those who drink, there is another god. Yellamma, Pochamma, Maisamma. For those who demand chicken, there is a god. And for those who eat dal-rice, there is another god, right? There are all kinds of deities."

These comments quickly circulated after being leaked from the internal meeting, drawing immediate backlash from political opponents.

Union minister and former Telangana BJP chief Bandi Sanjay Kumar responded forcefully on social media, stating: "I strongly condemn the comments made by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy insulting Hindus and Hindu deities. The Congress has always been a party that bends before the AIMIM. Revanth Reddy himself said Congress is a Muslim party. That statement alone exposes their mindset. Congress carries deep-rooted hatred towards Hindus."

Kumar further connected the incident to previous political warnings, saying: "This is exactly why we warned during the Jubilee Hills by-election that if Congress or BRS accidentally won, Hindus would not be able to step out with dignity. The Chief Minister's latest comments prove BJP was right."

The BJP leader called for Hindu unity in response to the perceived slight: "The hatred Congress holds towards Hindus and Hindu gods now stands exposed. It is time for the Hindu community to think seriously. Will you stay divided and continue to endure humiliation, or will you unite and assert your strength?"

In response to the controversy, BJP state chief G Ramchandra Rao has announced plans for statewide protests against the Chief Minister and the Congress government, demanding an unconditional apology.

The BRS party has also joined in criticizing the Chief Minister, with several leaders calling for an immediate retraction and apology for what they describe as hurting the sentiments of millions of Hindus across Telangana.

The protests are expected to intensify throughout the state in coming days as the political fallout continues to develop.
