Gorakhpur:
A 20-year-old man was viciously murdered in Gorakhpur, reportedly by his companions, who decapitated him and disposed of his remains in the adjacent Maharajganj district, according to police statements released Tuesday.
On Monday evening, authorities recovered the dismembered body parts and took two suspects into custody for questioning.
Police investigators reported that Ambuj, also known as Prakashendu (20), from Surya Vihar Colony, departed his residence late on November 26 to attend a wedding 'haldi' ceremony. After he failed to return home and his mobile phone remained inaccessible, his family submitted a missing person report on November 28.
Authorities contacted one of Ambuj's friends who had accompanied him that evening. During interrogation, this individual allegedly admitted that he and two others killed Ambuj with an axe following a monetary disagreement that escalated during intoxicated confrontation.
The accused further disclosed that following the homicide, they transported the remains to Maharajganj, disposing of the severed head near the Deoria branch along the Bhainsa-Pipra Khadar route, while abandoning the torso approximately 10 kilometers away by a canal in Shyamdeurwa. SP city Abhinav Tyagi confirmed to reporters that the three perpetrators killed Ambuj over a financial dispute.
The dismembered remains were recovered from Maharajganj Monday evening and sent for post-mortem examination. Two suspects have been apprehended, while authorities continue searching for the third accomplice. Police have not yet revealed the identities of the accused. According to police department sources, the three suspects range between 19 and 21 years of age.
